Snowbound Pet Resort was established in the spring of 1995 in response to a growing need in the community and surrounding areas for a different kind of pet boarding facility.
We are NOT a pet storage facility. At Snowbound, we understand that all pets are individuals with special needs and rights. We are able to provide an atmosphere of safety, calm and comfort and attempt to keep your pet's schedule and routine as unchanged as possible. All the pets in our care get a healthy dose of human contact several times a day and those that have permission can socialize with other pets and with children as well.
The buildings were designed and built specifically for the clients with their needs and comfort in mind. The inside space is warm and well lit and designed to remind your pet of home. Natural light enters through windows and skylights and there is always music playing for the dogs and cats to enjoy. Individual sleeping space is provided for each pet or family group and pets are welcome to bring their own beds or blankets along for extra comfort.
We can also provide whatever exercise requirements your pet needs. We have a large grassed exercise yard and offerdaily walks on country trails. And in the summertime we have an outside playpen for cats.
We serve First Mate premium quality Pet Food (puppy, performance, adult maintenance, or trim and light) but if your pet has special diet requirements or you don't want to change your pet's food, we would be happy to serve the food you send along. We can also administer medication or meet any other special needs.
We are very happy to be able to say that most of our new clients are referred to us by our existing clients. We now have pets coming to visit us from all over the Peace Country and beyond, including High Level, Fairview, Slave Lake, and Grande Prairie, to name a few, and some from as far away as Edmonton and Hay River N.W.T. We are also very happy to be able to say that we have never had a pet not want to come back for a second stay with us. Although some pets can be quite nervous and upset the first time they are away from their people, they almost always settle in quickly and are always happy to come back.
We are members of the Canadian Association of Professional Pet Dog Trainers and the Association of Pet Dog Trainers. We offer Pet Dog Obedience training and classes in the spring and fall. We also sell training books and videos and training supplies, including the gentle leader head collar.
